Lake Orion Township is making a bid to be a summer hot spot for live music this year.
The municipality on Tuesday announced a partnership with Orion Events for a slate of performances from June through October at the Wildwood Amphitheater and in the Fire Bowl at Camp Agawam. Nearly four dozen shows are already on the books, with more expected to be added.
The Fire Bowl kicks things off June 4 with the first of a series of "Funk 'N' Funny Friday" shows, with magic performances by Anthony Grupido also on tap and a fireworks display on July 2. Wildwood Amphitheater begins with blues singer Eliza Neal on June 10, and its lineup runs a gamut of regional talent that includes the North Oakland Concert Band on June 22, a Pazman Super Session on June 24, the Lake Orion High School Band on June 29, local blues notables such as Kenny Parker, Jimmy McCarty, Bobby Murray and others, and tributes to Johnny Cash, the Beatles, Alice Cooper and Etta James.
Wildwood will also host a laser show on August 6-7, as well as weekend festivals such as the Motor City Homecoming July 2-4 and a Country Fest July 9-11.
Organizers say ticket prices will be kept low, averaging about $15.
The full lineup and updates can be found at orion.events.
Wildwood Amphitheatre is located at 2700 Joslyn Court, while Camp Agawam, previously owned by the Boy Scouts of America, is at 1301 Clarkston Road.
