Eminem will be joining the Non-fungible Token (NFT) craze this weekend.
The Detroit rapper has announced plans via social media to release a unique, one-time-only digital item on Sunday, April 25 through the site Nifty Gateway. The post did not identify what the NFT would be and counseled fans to "look out for more information and details to come."
An NFT is what certifies that the item is authentic and unique, serving as a proof of ownership that's separate from a copyright.
This will be Eminem's first NFT; Other artists such as Kings of Leon and Lil Pump, along with LeBron James and other celebrities, have also used the platform to generate high-dollar sales.
Eminem's NFT comes after a "Saturday Night Live" skit during March, a take-off on the video from his song "Without Me" in which Pete Davidson and rapper Jack Harlow explained NFTs to viewers, noting "Non-fungible means that's unique/There can only be one/Like you or me."
Eminem had initially responded to the parody with a "thinking" emoji before announcing his NFT plans.
