The White Stripes are pulling more treasures from the vault this spring.
The Grammy Award-winning Detroit rock duo, which broke up in 2011, has announced "White Blood Cells XX," a 20th anniversary "companion" to its third album, released in 2001. The set was a commercial breakthrough, putting the group on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time and certified platinum for sales of more than a million copies. It also launched the hit "Fell in Love With a Girl," the White Stripes' first single to chart in the U.S. and the U.K.
The song's video won three MTV Video Music Awards in 2002.
The "XX" set will be sold as part of Third Man Records' Vault Package series, with one vinyl disc of demos, outtakes and alternative mixes and a second disc featuring a Sept. 6, 2001 performance at Headliners in Louisville, Ky. The package also includes an hour-long documentary DVD along with a booklet featuring posters, flyers and unseen photos from the era.
Vault series subscriptions that include "XX" are available through April 30 via thirdmanrecords.com.
