Ex-Styx Frontman Headlines Pediatric Cancer Benefit

Former Styx frontman Dennis DeYoung will be there in the flesh, and a batch of other rock stars will be represented by their signatures at the annual Stars Guitars pediatric cancer benefit concert and auction, taking place Saturday (Oct. 27) at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township.

Among the items up for bid this year will be a Fender Stratocaster guitar signed by Eddie Van Halen and his son, Wolfgang, as well as items autographed by Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Uncle Kracker, Tim McGraw, Yoko Ono, Les Paul, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, the Fray, Was (Not Was) and more. The program begins at 6 p.m. with the auction and a strolling dinner, while DeYoung will perform after the bidding is closed.

Proceeds from the evening go to the Charles A. Main M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund at Beaumont Hospitals, which since 1992 has given out more than $376,000 to help cancer survivors pay for advanced education. The fund also provides grants to Beaumontís Late Effects Clinic.
