The Accidentals, Brian Vander Ark and the Gasoline Gypsies are among the Michigan artists who will be performing for Spread the Music 2021, a virtual festival raising money to help musicians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown.
The event has added an extra day and now takes place March 24-28 via Facebook, from venues across the state. Proceeds will go to the non-profit Michigan Music Alliance, which is producing the event and offers grants to musicians in need. More than 200 acts have applied to be part of the festival, according to the organization.
Things begin March 24 with Grand Rapids artists such as Mark Lavengood, Emilee Petersmark and Political Lizard, while Petoskey will be the March 25 site with a lineup curated by the Blissfest Music Organization.
The Accidentals will headline on March 26, while Verve Pipe frontman Vander Ark and the Gasoline Gypsies, from Port Huron, will close the festival on March 28.
20 Front Street in Lake Orion, meanwhile, will host a songwriters-in-the-round session on March 26.
A complete lineup and schedule is expected to be announced soon, via MichiganMusicAlliance.org.
