Detroit's Movement Electronic Music Festival will be taking a second consecutive Memorial Day weekend off.

Paxahau, which produces the global event in the city's Hart Plaza, announced Wednesday morning, Feb. 17, that "the ongoing pandemic and state regulations have led us to the painful realization that our beloved (festival) will not happen in May 2021." The announcement adds that Paxahau "is working hard to provide updates about future dates and ticketing options" and promised to "be in touch next month with more information...We promise that we will always look out for your safety and will work to bring you the greatest experience possible when we can gather again in Techno City."

During 2020 the festival -- which launched during 2000 as Movement -- initially moved from its Memorial Day weekend dates to September before canceling outright. The festival has been active online, however, with a continue series of virtual performances mostly via Paxahau.TV on Twitch.
