Checking out this week's new music releases...

Album of the Week: "Nobody is Listening" (RCA) seems an odd, and untrue, title for the third solo album from former One Direction member Zayn (add the Malik if you wish), who most certainly still holds the screaming throng captive. Two singles ("Better" and "Vibez") are out already, he gets help from fellow mono-monikered acts Syd ("When Love's Around") and Devlin ("Windowsill") this time out. And for good measure, it comes just three days after his 28th birthday on Jan. 12.

Album Title of the Week: Bloody Hammers, "Songs of Unspeakable Terror" (Napalm)

Did Ya Know?: The new recording of Wynton Marsalis' "The Democracy Suite!" (Blue Engine) hails from the Jazz @ Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet's virtual performance of the piece last Nov. 27 in Ann Arbor.
