A pair of southeast Michigan's national music acts dropped new music, and more, on Friday, Dec. 4.

Grammy Award-winning Frankenmuth rock troupe Greta Van Fleet revealed an April 16 release for its sophomore album, "The Battle at the Garden's Gate," which the quartet has been working on throughout the year. It accompanied the announcement with the release of a second track from the set, "Age of Machine," following "My Way, Soon," which came out in October.

GVF recorded the album in Los Angeles with new producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Sia), and in a statement frontman Josh Kiszka describes it as "very dynamic lyrically speaking...There was a lot of self-evolution happening during the writing of this album that was prompted by experiences I had, experiences we all had."

where we're at musically in time right now" Guitarist Jake Kiszka, his older brother, adds that, "It's reflecting a lot of the world that we've seen, and I think that it's reflecting a lot of personal truth.....The performances -- and the aspects of them that are captured -- preserve where we're at musically in time right now."

"The Battle at Garden's Gate" follows 2018's "Anthem of the Peaceful Army," which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. GVF won its Grammy for its 2018 double EP "From the Fires," which was named Best Rock Album in 2019.

Also out Friday is "Stay Next to Me," a new song and video from Grosse Pointe native Quinn XCII (nee Mikael Temrowski) that features singer-songwriter Chelsea Cutler. It's the first single from his next album, "Change of Scenery II," which is due out during early 21 as a sequel of sorts to his 2015 EP "Change of Scenery." The song is co-produced with childhood friend ayokay, who also worked with Quinn on the original EP.

"Change of Scenery II" is a quick follow-up to "A Letter to My Younger Self," which Quinn released in July, and will be the third album he's put out in as many years.
