Big Sean will give his home town its props with the release of his fifth studio album, "Detroit 2," on Sept. 2.

He's also released a new single, "Deep Reverence," featuring the late Nipsley Hussle, to follow four-non album singles that came out during 2018 and 2019.

The set is the rapper's first since 2017's "I Decided" and is a follow-up to his "Detroit" mixtape, which was released on the same date in 2012. "Detroit" featured guest appearances by Royce da 5'9", French Montana, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and others. Song titles and other credits for "Detroit 2 have not yet been revealed.

Big Sean (nee Anderson) teased "Detroit 2" back on March 25, his 32nd birthday, with a two-and-a-half-minute featuring snippets of songs from the set and shows Big Sean tooling around the city, including visits to the Motown Museum and backstage with Post Malone at Little Caesars Arena last Sept. 29, as well as in the studio working on the album with collaborators such as Young Thug.

"Detroit, to me it's home," he explained in a voice-over. "I feel like it's more than a city...It feels like a whole new energy in the city. It's inspiring to watch, to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It's like a Phoenix rising out of the ashes." Alluding to some of his own issues in recent years he adds that, "What's crazy is the things that I thought would destroy me came full-circle to fuel me," and he says the music of his youth is also reflected in "Detroit 2."

"I've been going back and listening to music that impacted me growing up," Big Sean says, "songs that I heard on the radio every day, but I didn't even realize it was only popping in Detroit."

Since his 2011 debut "Finally Famous," Big Sean has scored three platinum albums, two of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. He's also released nine Top 10 R&B/Hip-Hop hits and been featured on songs by childhood friend Mike Posner, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus, Fall Out Boy, DJ Khaled, Tyga,

He also operates the Sean Anderson Foundation, which does charitable work in the Detroit metro area.
