The curtain has come down for the Cinetopia Film Festival -- at least for 2020.

The event, which runs in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor, had been moved from spring to Aug. 21-30 and has now been canceled entirely, "with the healthy and safety of our audience as our highest priority, due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.

Cinetopia organizers have announced 2021 dates for May 14-23. Festival staff will contact those who have purchased passes with refund and credit information.

Cinetopia has been maintaining an online presence since the spring dates were called off, including the "A Summer of Film" collaboration with the Ann Arbor Jewish Film Festival, the Michigan Theater's Virtual Movie Palace and other events and is planning to do more as the year goes on.
