The late Eddie Money and the DTE Energy Music Theatre will join forces again -- for a good cause.
313 Presents will stream Money's 2018 concert from DTE, originally broadcast as "The Real Money Concert on AXS TV, at 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, as a fundraiser for Forgotten Harvest (forgottenharvest.org). Money's children Dez, Jessie and Julian, who were part of his band, will precede the show with some remarks as well as an acoustic performance from their home.
The Money concert will be part of a virtual interactive "party" that starts at noon, during which fans will be invited to share memories, photos and more on DTE's social media as well as 313Presents.com and 313's YouTube channel.
Money, who died last Sept. 13 at the age of 70, opened the DTE season for most of 28 consecutive years, usually on the Friday night of Memorial Day Weekend. Even in years when his wasn't the first show at the venue, Money's concert was considered to be the start of the summer season.
