Playing a show in the midst of a pandemic was a no-brainer for Steel Panther, according to drummer Stix Zadinia.

"I think at the beginning of all this everybody in the music business was just in disbelief that everything stopped," Zadinia (real name Darren Leader) says by phone. "I felt like we were all at a fork in the road where you go right and do nothing and wait, or you go left and do something."

Steel Panther which, Zadinia notes, is "used to playing six or seven nights a week" not surprisingly chose the latter.

The satiristic heavy metal band will play a virtual Concert to Save the World at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 7, via ticketed access on its website, steelpantherrocks.com. The quartet whose latest album, "Heavy Metal Rules," came out last September will be together in the same room in Los Angeles, and Zadinia promises "the whole deal" in terms of production and special effects.

"We want to give people as close to a normal concert experience as you can have in your house," he says. "I feel like we have a license to do pretty much anything. I think people look at us and go, 'Oh, that's Steel Panther, what are they gonna do next?'

"And whatever it is, as long as it makes us laugh and we enjoy it, it seems to resonate with most people."

Tickets for the Concert to Save the World are $15, with proceeds benefiting the Heavenly Pets Animal Rescue and Live Nation's Crew Nation Fund. They can be purchased through the band's website.
