Like Broadway, Off-Broadway may be dark but the 65th Drama Desk Awards will give the latest round of shows their due this weekend.

The ceremony will be online at 7:30 p.m. via DramaDeskAwards.com and NY1.com. The provocative Off-Broadway musical "Soft Power" is the leading nominee with 11, followed by "The Wrong Man" with nine and "Octet" and "Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Hell," both with eight.

The awards, established in 1955, are presented each year by an organization of New York theater critics, editors, reporters and publishers. They were originally known as the Vernon Rice Award, honoring the late New York Post critics, and were changed to the Drama Desk Awards in 1964.

The awards will be unveiling a new trophy to celebrate its 65th anniversary.
