Big Sean promises his long-awaited new album is on the way.

We just don't know when it will get here.

On Wednesday, March 25 -- his 32nd birthday -- the Detroit rapper (real name Sean Anderson) -- posted a two-and-a-half-minute trailer announcing the upcoming fifth album, Detroit 2." The clip features snippets of songs from the set and shows Big Sean tooling around the city, including visits to the Motown Museum and backstage with Post Malone at Little Caesars Arena last Sept. 29, as well as in the studio working on the album with collaborators such as Young Thug.

"Detroit, to me it's home," Big Sean, who released a mixtape titled "Detroit" during 2012, explains in a voice-over. "I feel like it's more than a city...It feels like a whole new energy in the city. It's inspiring to watch, to the point it inspired me to go harder than ever. It's like a Phoenix rising out of the ashes." Alluding to some of his own issues in recent years he adds that, "What's crazy is the things that I thought would destroy me came full-circle to fuel me," and he says the music of his youth is also reflected in "Detroit 2."

"I've been going back and listening to music that impacted me growing up," Big Sean says, "songs that I heard on the radio every day, but I didn't even realize it was only popping in Detroit."

The trailer, however, does not indicate when the album will be released or a track list. Big Sean's last album, "I Decided," came out during February of 2017, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and going platinum. He teamed with Metro Boomin' for "Double or Nothing" in 2017.

Last year he released three singles -- "Overtime," "Single Again" and "Bezerk" with ASAP Ferg and Hit-Boy -- but it's not known if those will appear on "Detroit 2."
