Music stars turn out for network TV coronavirus specials

With online music activity through the roof, a pair of all-star music specials have been slated for network television to entertain and raise money during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Elton John will host the "iHeart Living Room Concert For America," a one-hour, commercial-free broadcast at 9 p.m. Sunday, March 29 on Fox (WJBK, Channel 2), which will feature performances by Billie Eilish, Mariah Carey, the Backstreet Boys, Alicia Keys, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Tim McGraw and others. All are filming their performances on personal cell phones and other home equipment.

The show will also be streamed on iHeartMedia radio stations and the company's app and will solicit donates to Feeding America and the First Responder Children's Foundation.

CBS (WWJ, Channel 62) late-night host James Cordon will follow at 10 p.m. Monday, March 30, with "Homefest," a special eddition of his "The Late Late Show." Eilish and her brother/collaborator Finneas, as well as John Legend, will perform from their home in Los Angeles, with BTS from South Korea, Dua Lipa from London and Andrea Boccelli from Italy. Will Ferrell and magician David Blaine will also appear on the special, which Corden will host from his Garage

"Homefest" will raise money for the CDC Foundation and Feed the Children.

Meanwile, the World Health Organization continues to raise money for its coronavirus fund with its daily Together At Home: WHO-Global Citizen Solidarity Sessions of Instagram Live concerts. Legend, Jennifer Hudson and Coldplay's Chris Martin are among those who have taken part so far.
