Garth Brooks came to Detroit last month -- and all he got was a hoodie?

Well, the country star got more than that, to the tune of more than 70,000 fans during an epic Feb. 22 concert at Ford Field. But he happily displayed a University of Detroit Mercy Lacrosse team hoodie that he picked up during the visit when he and wife Trisha Yearwood played a Facebook Live concert Monday night, March 23, as part of his "Inside Studio G" series.

Brooks received the hoodie when he and Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia spoke to student athletes at the school on Feb. 21 as part of Brooks' involvement in the organization Teammates For Kids. During a press conference at Ford Field that afternoon, Brooks said that "we talk about setting goals, we talk about teammates, we talk about helping each other out, loving one another. A lot of the world 'love' goes on...It's just coming in there and making sure they know they're not alone." He added that there were "good questions today from the kids, really mature questions."

Brooks also praised Patricia after the session. "He's one of the guys who, whatever he said I just say, 'Well, I've got to say that (too) 'cause we think the same way."

The hour-long, homespun Brooks and Yearwood concert -- performed, in fact, from their home in Oklahoma -- proved to be one of the most popular episodes in this series, drawing a reported 3.4 million viewers.

Brooks' Ford Field appearance was followed by an uproar from some who felt that his Barry Sanders Detroit Lions jersey was an endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Brooks and Barry Sanders, who both attended Oklahoma State University, traded jokes about it on social media.
