Detroit's theater schedule took another COVID-19 virus hit with the cancelation fo the Tony Award-winning "Dear Evan Hansen" on Friday, March 13.
The production was scheduled for a March 25-April 5 run at the Fisher Theatre and was scrapped in the wake of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's temporary ban on events larger than 250 people, which currently runs through April 5.
Earlier in the day Broadway in Detroit canceled all remaining shows for "Fiddler on the Roof," which scheduled to run through Sunday, March 15.
Refunds for "Dear Evan Hansen" can be made at the point of purchase or through Ticketmaster or the company's Subscriptions or Group Sales offices. Additional details at broadwayindetroit.com.
Broadway in Detroit still plans to stage the other productions of its 2019-20 season -- including "The Color Purple," "The Last Ship," "Beautiful" and "Summer: The Donna Summer Musical" -- bu is "closely monitorin the evolving coronavirus situation and...following the lead of local, state and federal elected officials."
