Despite concert and tour cancellation and postponements that are rocking the entertainment industry, Detroit's Mo Pop Festival is ready for an eighth year -- with a new venue and its biggest headliner yet.

The two-day festival will take place July 25-26, moving from Detroit's West Riverfront Park to Historic Fort Wayne on West Jefferson Ave. The 22-act bill will be headlined by R&B/pop singer Khalid -- who sold out Little Caesars Arena last July 28, ironically during the 2019 Mo Pop -- and British rock group The 1975.

Also on this year's bill are Kaytranada, Purity Ring, Doja Cat, Phoebe Bridges, Orville Peck, Still Woozy, Hippo Campus, Peach Pit, Girl in Red, Beabadoobee, Bane's World, Beach Bunny, Dayglow, Lota the Friend, Oso Oso, Dogleg, Charity, Who Boy and whiterosemoxie.

In a statement, festival director Jason Rogalewski says that, "We couldn't be happier with our new location...which will provide Mo Pop a home downtown on the Riverfront. It's another one of those hidden gems in the city that's uniquely Detroit and we can't wait to share it with our fans in July." No mention was made about precautions in the wake of the CONVID-19 virus that's caused the cancellation of events such as South By Southwest in Texas and Miami's Ultra Festival, among others, and has altered touring plans around the world.

Representatives of AEG Presents, Mo Pop's parent company, declined to comment as well.

IN addition to the music Mo Pop will also feature a new VIP area called the Yacht Club, as well as the Haute to Death & Friends dance party, locally sourced food and beverages, a gaming arcade and craft bazaar.

Presale registration for the festival begins at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, with general ticket sales starting at 10 a.m. on March 16. Prices range from $79.95-$289.95. Children aged 10 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a ticket holder.
