The Temptations are coming home -- or at least the stage musical about the venerable Motown group is -- as part of Broadway in Detroit's 2020-21 subscription season.
"Ain't Too Proud -- The Life and Times of the Temptations," based on sole surviving original member Otis Williams' memoir, will open the season during July and August at the Detroit Opera House. Also in the potent seven-show lineup are the return of "Hamilton" -- as a separate purchase -- during March and April 2021 and "The Band's Visit," winner of 10 Tony Awards, October-November, both at the Fisher Theatre.
The season is rounded out by "Disney's Frozen," August-September; "The Cher Show," December; "Hairspray," February 2021; and "Mean Girls," February-March 2021, all at the Fisher.
Current subscribers can begin renewing now through April 5 at 313-872-1000 or via BroadwayinDetroit.com. New subscriptions will go on sale Feb. 24. Subscribers will be given an early opportunity to buy "Hamilton" tickets, with a limit of eight per person.
More shows outside the subscription series are expected to be announced in the future.
