Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is offering fans an early look at his new concert DVD, “Remember the Night — Live at Royal Albert Hall.” It hits stores on Tuesday (Sept. 18), but Gilmour is premiering it in theaters on Saturday (Sept. 15), along with a live question and answer session via satellite from London.
Director David Mallett used 23 cameras to film “Remember That Night ... ” during Gilmour’s 2006 tour supporting his last studio album, “On an Island.” Gilmour’s band included Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright and Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera, while David Bowie, David Crosby and Graham Nash and Robert Wyatt made guest appearances. A second disc in the DVD will include additional performances, including the early Pink Floyd favorite “Astronomy Domine” and Floyd founder Syd Barrett’s “Dark Globe,” as well as a behindthe-scenes documentary.
The theatrical presentation takes place at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Commerce Township Stadium 14, 3033 Springvale Drive, Walled Lake, and at the Livonia 20, 19500 Haggerty Road. Admission will be $12.50. Questions for Gilmour’s question and answer session, which will also include a one-song acoustic performance, can be submitted to www. davidgilmour.com.
