The Detroit modern rock outfit His Name is Alive will preview material from its new album, “Xmmer,” due out Sept. 18, Saturday (Sept. 8) night at the Magic Stick, 4120 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Detroit favorites the Howling Diablos will headline A One in a Million Night to benefit the University of Michigan’s Adrenal Cancer Clinic Friday (Sept. 7) at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. The event is co-sponsored by the Spencer Bell Memorial, which was created after the death of local musician Bell in 2006, just 11 days after he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his abdomen. Bell’s band, the Stevedores, will also perform, along with Anita David, Lee Pantel and Double Scale. Sportscaster Eli Zaret will emcee the evening, which will also include a silent auction with memorabilia from Fall Out Boy, They Might Be Giants, Ween and Jim and A.J. Croce.
