Besides its usual activities, this weekend’s Chrysler Arts, Beats & Eats festival will also offer attendees an early look at Pontiac’s newest entertainment facility.
Parts of the Crofoot, a multi-use facility at Pike and Saginaw streets, will be open during the festival weekend, according to the venue’s Dan McGowan. The Crofoot Cafe will be open to serve drinks and a limited menu, while sections of the building will be available for walk-throughs.
On Sunday (Sept. 2), the Crofoot Ballroom will host Sonic Style: Rock the Runway, Arts, Beats & Eats’ first major fashion show. Doors open at 9 p.m. and admission is free until 10 p.m., when a $10 cover goes into effect. The fashion show begins at 11.
“We want people to come in and familiarize themselves with the building,” says McGowan. “We’re hoping people will see it and remember it and that it will make an impression on them.”
The Crofoot’s grand opening is Sept. 7 with a concert by local bands the Dirtbombs and the Muldoons. Its fi rst club night, 180 Degrees, takes place on Sept. 8. Information is available at www.thecrofoot.com.
