A couple of metro area music acts have landed major music award nominations this week.

Frankenmuth's Greta Van Fleet, already up for four Grammy Awards, received two iHeartRadio Music Awards nods on Wednesday, Jan. 9, for Rock Artist of the Year and for Rock Song of the Year for its single "Safari Song." The awards take place March 14 in Los Angeles -- while the group is in the midst of a European tour -- and airs on Fox TV.

GVF will perform Jan. 19 on NBC's "Saturday Night Live," while the Grammys take place Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.

R&B singer Thornetta Davis, meanwhile, is up for Best Soul Blues Female Artist at this year's 40th annual Blues Music Awards, taking place May 9 in Memphis. More information can be found at blues.org.
