Jazz and reggae-rock are the initial offerings for the summer 2019 season at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre -- formerly Chene Park Amphitheatre in Detroit.
The venue, rechristened by the city after Franklin's death in August, is putting Premium Seat Licenses (i.e. season tickets) priced at $268 for its Jazzy Nights Series on sale starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23. The series will feature a dozen Wednesday night shows starting in early June and feature performances by Brian Culbertson, Will Downing, Najee, Black Violin, Jonathan Butler and Kirk Whilom, with others to be announced.
The venue, which will be known as The Aretha, has also announced an Aug. 2 concert by the British band UB40 for Aug. 2, with tickets also going on sale Friday.
