Homegrown Happenings: The Sillies, Vox Pop, Surrogate Band

Early Detroit punk rockers the Sillies will celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary Friday (August 10th) at the Ritz, 24300 Hoover Road, Warren. Roommates singer Beau will be the group’s special guest, while Radiocraft, Slave to the Beautiful and Killin’ Machine will open. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for 21 and older, $8 for 18-20. The Vox Pop, a local “supergroup” featuring former members of the Killer Flamingos, Robb Roy and Bridge, as well as moonlighting Wrenfields singer Noreen Novrocki, will play one of its periodic shows 9:30 p.m. Saturday (August 11th) at Silky’s Martini & Music Cafe, 21931 Michigan Ave., Dearborn. The Surrogate Band, Detroit’s leading Pink Floyd tribute group, will perform a rare outdoor gig 7 p.m. Friday (August 10th) as part of the Concerts at the CourtHouse series in downtown Howell.
