Aretha Franklin, Marcus Belgrave and more to be honored by R&B Hall of Fame
A pair of Detroit music legends -- Aretha Franklin and trumpeter Marcus Belgrave -- will be among the honorees at the 2018 R&B Hall of Fame induction ceremony taking place June 3 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
Franklin will receive the Music Icon Award that night, while Belgrave will be part of the R&B Hall’s class of inductees. Others getting the spotlight at the ceremony include Motown act the Elgins and Ivy Jo Hunter, Sam & Dave, the Drifters, the Chi-Lites, Peaches & Herb, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Ken Bell, Richard “Popcorn” Wylie and Clay McMurray.
Former Supremes member Mary Wilson will host the ceremony.
The R&B Hall currently exists online at rbhalloffame.com. Founder LaMont Robinson has expressed plans to open a permanent museum in Detroit during the next two years.
