Eminem has started the year with a couple of major concert announcements.
The Detroit rapper, who maintains a studio in Ferndale, will perform at two of music’s biggest festivals during 2018. He’ll be part of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, headlining its two Sundays on April 15 and 22 in Indio, Calif. Beyonce and the Weeknd are headlning the other nights, while Frankenmuth’s Greta Van Fleet will play on April 13 and 20. Full details can be found at coachella.com.
Eminem and fellow Detroiter Jack White have also been announced as headliners for this year’s Governors Ball Music Festival June 1-3 at Randall’s Island Par in New York City. Details at governorsballmusicfestival.com.
Eminem is expected to announce more performances for this year but most likely occasional dates rather than a full-blown tour.
Eminem released his new album, “Revival,” on Dec. 15. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of nearly 200,000 copies and also topped charts in the U.K., Canada and Australia. The album features guest appearances by Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, P!nk and others.
