Eminem seems to have dropped a playful hint about his new album.
A new online and print ad is circulating for a drug called Revival, which claims to treat something called Atrox Rithimus. That condition doesn’t exist, however, and the E in revival is printed backwards in the same manner, and font, the Detroit rapper uses for his logo.
The ad has been placed by Interscope Records, Eminem’s label, and purports that Revival is “could be music to your ears.” The embedded video for the drug includes references to Eminem’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” and his collaboration with Dr. Dre, “I Need A Doctor.” The phone number listed in the add, 1-833-2GET-REV -- features a recorded message with a piano playing what sounds like “I Need A Doctor” and ends with a female voice saying, “We give you some serious...credit for sticking through this ad.”
Eminem has not officially announced “Revival” as the title of his ninth studio album -- and first since “The Marshall Mathers LP” in 2013 -- nor has he revealed a release date, though it’s expected out on Nov. 17. He recently made news with “The Storm,” a freestyle rap bashing President Donald Trump that debuted Oct. 11 on the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Eminem also won a copyright infringement lawsuit this week against the New Zealand National Party for using “Lose Yourself” in campaign ads last year. Eminem will receive approximately $482,000 after the ruling by the New Zealand High Court. The song was featured in his first film, “8 Mile,” which celebrates its 15th anniversary with a special screening on Nov. 8 at the Bel Air Luxury Cinema in Detroit and a party the next night at Saint Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit.
