Homegrown Happenings: Michigan Jazz Festival, National Ghost and more...

A hot day of cool jazz is ahead Sunday (July 15th) at the 13th annual Michigan Jazz Festival at Schoolcraft College in Livonia. Five stages, one of which will be outdoors, will have an all-Michigan lineup of 23 acts including Bess Bonnier, Alma Smith, the Johnny Trudell Big Band, George “Sax” Benson Quartet, Los Gatos and Cliff Monear Quartet. The event runs noon-9:15 p.m. Admission and parking are both free. The college is on Haggerty Road between Six Mile and Seven Mile roads. The Hayloft Liquor Stand in Mount Clemens goes for the gamut Friday (July 13th) with a bill that starts with acoustic singer-songwriters Tessa Rochen and Emily Rose, then cranks up the volume with rockers Im Possible Tuesday and Paragon.
