Iggy Pop will be doing quite a bit of talking next week in Detroit.
Already booked for two special Q&A sessions, the Ypsilanti-raised rock icon, will be at Third Man Records in Detroit's Cass Corridor on Oct. 25 to speak with Jeff Gold, the co-author of the book "Total Chaos: The Story of the Stooges/As Told by Iggy Pop." The session follows Pop's Q&A with Jim Jarmusch that night at a sold-out special screening of the director's Stooges film "Gimme Danger" at the Detroit Film Theatre in the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Admission to the Third Man event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Third Man is located at 441 Canfield St. Call 313-285-8162 or visit thirdmanrecords.com.
"Total Chaos," Pop's candid account of the Stooges' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame history, will be published on Nov. 15 by Jack White's Third Man Books. White and Third Man's Ben Blackwell were major archive contributors to the "Gimme Danger" film. Pop and Gold are doing a similar event on Nov. 5 at Rizzoli in New York City.
Pop is also speaking on Sunday, Oct. 23, joining producer Don Was for a moderated Living Histories Live presentation by the Grammy Foundation at 8 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre, 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets are $35. Call 313-833-9700 or visit majesticdetroit.com.
