The music rights management company BMI has postponed plans to honor Motown songwriter Barrett Strong this week as part of its Singer-Songwriter Series in Detroit.

Strong was slated to be saluted by an all-star group of performers on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Fox Theatre. After the show was switched to Coyote Joe's in Shelby Township, the Strong portion of the show was scratched because the country music club was deemed inappropriate for the tribute.

BMI and CBS Detroit, which is co-sponsoring the event, hope to reschedule it for a later date.

Hunter Hayes, Uncle Kracker and LoCash will still perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Coyote Joe's, 49440 Ryan Road. Admission is $10. The Singer-Songwriters Series begins Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Hockeytown Cafe, 2301 Woodward Ave., Detroit. For more information visit olympiaentertainment.com.
