Tributesville gets a permanent home this week with a blast of Bob Seger.
And there's a lot more to come, according to its founder.
"We have a wonderful opportunity in a nice place," says Todd Stoney, the Commerce Township-based musician and entrepreneur who founded both the Seger tribute band Looking Back and "acting mayor" of the Tributesville concept, dedicated to showcasing tribute bands working on the Detroit metro area and beyond.
Tributesville begins its residency on Tuesday night, June 7, at the Human Room in HopCat Detroit, 4265 Woodward Ave. in the city's Midtown area.
"Having a home dedicated to Detroit's best tribute bands is key," Stoney says, adding that Tributesville's deal with HopCat is "a real partnership with them making an...investment into each of the acts." Each of the shows will feature one act only playing two sets, starting promptly at 8 p.m. and usually wrapping up by 10:30 p.m.
Tributesville's future TNT (Tuesday Night Tribute) nights salutes to Alice Cooper on June 14, the Beatles on June 21, Ozzy Osbourne on July 12 and an Elvis Presley/Tom Jones/Neil Diamond night on July 19. Tickets are $20 for each show.
