Bruce Springsteen brings "The River" tour to the Palace

ruce Springsteen's Detroit area fans will be able to go for a ride down "The River" after all.

Though the metro area wasn't among the initial dates on Springsteen's current North American tour with is E Street Band, the group will now play April 14 at the Palace of Auburn Hills as part of a 15-show tour extension announced on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Tickets for the show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 5.

It's Springsteen's first Detroit area show since April 12, 2012.

Springsteen and company are playing his 1980 album "The River" in its entirety during the tour, which kicked off Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh. The new leg of dates includes a third show in Los Angeles on March 19 and wraps up with concerts April 23 and 25 in Brooklyn. The group will also play the Rock in Rio Lisbon festival on May 19 in Portugal, with more European dates expected to be announced soon.

Springsteen is releasing official recordings of each of the tour shows at live.springsteen.net.
