The Ypsilanti-raised rock 'n' roll icon and frontman of the legendary Stooges will perform April 7 at Detroit's Fox Theatre as part of a tour promoting his new solo album, "Post Pop Depression," which comes out March 18. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Jan. 30.
The show will be one of 20 dates Pop is playing with the all-star band that recorded the album, including Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme, Royal Oak native Dean Fertita (QOTSA, the Dead Weather) and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders. The trek stars March 28 in Seattle, with a seven-date European leg commencing May 4 in Stockholm before the tour wraps up May 15 in Paris.
The group is also planning to film a performance for "Austin City Limits," possibly during the South By Southwest Music + Media Conference during March in Austin, Texas.
"Post Pop Depression" is Pop's first solo set since "Apres" in 2012. Pop has already released the tracks "Gardenia" and "Break Into Your Heart," and the group performed recently on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
