The new Rock Stars’ Cars and Guitars exhibit opened Thursday at the Henry Ford in Dearborn with a surprise guest. Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, who has 16 guitars in the exhibit, drove from his Rockford, Ill., home to check things out and to play for a few minutes, plugged into a Ford GT equipped with a Fender audio system developed by Panasonic Automotive. Detroit native David Was of the group Was (Not Was) was also in attendance, as was museum Chairman Bill Ford Jr. for the VIP event. The exhibit opens to the public Saturday.
