Royal Oak’s Memphis Smoke will get funky on Sunday (May 20th) when the Motor City Music Foundation presents House of Funk II. A fund-raiser for the annual Detroit Music Awards, the House will rock with performances by RoadWork featuring Tmoneygreen, Shadow, Funkillinium and Midtown Underground. Memphis Smoke is at 100 S. The Detroit Women vocal collective will perform their gospel show, which they seldom roll out in these parts, at 7:30 p.m. Friday (May 18th) at the Highland Lakes Campus of Oakland Community College, 7350 Cooley Lake Road, Waterford Township. Modern rockers Battling Siki, whose membership includes Sights guitarist Eddie Baranek, headlines a show at 10 p.m. Friday (May 18th) at 313.Jac in Jacoby’s, 624 Brush St., in Detroit’s Bricktown district. Dead Letters and the Cetan Clawson Revolution also are on the bill. Call (313) 962-7067.

Singer-pianist Kerry Price will step in for the ailing Bess Bonnier at the final B’Jazz Vespers concert of the season 6 p.m. Sunday (May 20th) at the Birmingham First Baptist Church, 300 Willits St. Admission is free, though a collection will be taken for the musicians.
