A pair of Motown acts has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2015.
The Marvelettes, who scored hits such "Please Mr. Postman" and "Don't Mess With Bill," and the Spinners, which formed in Ferndale and went on to greater fame with Atlantic Records, have both been nominated for the Rock Hall before. Both have also been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
The two acts are part of a ballot that also includes Green Day, nine inch nails, Lou Reed, Sting, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Chic, N.W.A., the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Smiths, Kraftwerk, War and Bill Withers. Members of the Rock Hall's voting committee will be receiving ballots shortly, while the public can weigh in through Dec. 9 at www.rockhall.com.
Inductees will be announced during December, while the ceremony will take place April 18 in Cleveland and filmed for broadcast in May on HBO.
