Some local music heroes return to action in the Detroit metro area this weekend. On the docket are ...

Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 313-822-8000 or visit www.Sinbads.com.
• Need a Bob Seger fix before the new “Ride Out” album comes in October? Rickey Godfrey also performs. Tickets are $25 and $20. Call 248-858-9508 or visit www.atcallahans.com.
• The thunder will come from down under at Detroit Bass Fest from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the New Way Bar in Ferndale. Jazz expatriate Robert Hurst is part of a lineup that also includes Igor Saavedra and Eddie Kohen, each offering a distinctive take on the instrument.
