Some local music heroes return to action in the Detroit metro area this weekend. On the docket are ...

• The Crumudgeons, a Detroit R&B “supergroup” featuring Sponge’s Vinnie Dombroski, Jackson Smith, Chef Chris, Tim Duvalier and others reunite for a “Return to Sohar” show the first time in more than two years on Friday, Aug. 22, at Sinbad’s Restaurant and Marina, 100 Saint Clair St., Detroit. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 313-822-8000 or visit www.Sinbads.com.

• Need a Bob Seger fix before the new “Ride Out” album comes in October? Shaun Murphy, one of the Silver Bullet Band backup singers and a pretty hot solo act in her own right (not to mention stints with Little Feat and Eric Clapton) hits town for a show on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Callahan’s Music Hall, 2015 South Blvd., Auburn Hills. Rickey Godfrey also performs. Tickets are $25 and $20. Call 248-858-9508 or visit www.atcallahans.com.

• The thunder will come from down under at Detroit Bass Fest from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the New Way Bar in Ferndale. Jazz expatriate Robert Hurst is part of a lineup that also includes Igor Saavedra and Eddie Kohen, each offering a distinctive take on the instrument. The New Way is located at 23130 Woodward Ave. Tickets are $15. Call 248-541-9870 or visit www.DetroitBassFest.com.
