Detroit Club Gets "Gilmore" Mention

The staff and clientele of Detroit's Magic Stick were surprised Tuesday night when the club was mentioned in an episode of CW’s “The Gilmore Girls.” “I was excited to hear about it,” venue director Greg Baise said on Wednesday. “I didn’t know it was coming; I got a text message as it happened. Everyone else here seemed nonplussed. They don’t care.” In the episode, titled “Lorelai? Lorelai?” Zack Van Gerbig (actor-musician Todd Lowe) joins a band that’s touring the U.S. and talks excitedly about landmark venues it will be playing — including the Magic Stick. But Baise notes that the two reallife bands the script mentions as playing at the club — Grizzly Bear and Tokyo Police Club — have, in fact, never visited.
