Four of the Detroit area's female-fronted bands are joining forces this weekend for Foxfest, a benefit concert for three local women's shelters -- the LACASA Center in Howell, the Turning Point Shelter in Macomb and Detroit's Alternative For Girls.

White Shag, the Luckouts, Meridith [cq] Lorde & the Tainted Saints and Downfall will perform starting at 9 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Tangent Gallery, 715 E. Milwaukee, Detroit. Visual artists Christen Carolin of Ferndale and Julie Fournier of Hazel Park will exhibit their works during the event, while the Congregation of Every 1 will collect donations of clothing and other household items that will be distributed to the shelters.

Admission for Foxfest is $8. For more information call 313-873-2955 or visit the Foxfest event page on Facebook.
