If you missed Peter Gabriel's Back To Front tour performing his landmark "So" album in its entirety -- and his sparsely attended show at the Palace of Auburn Hills in September of 2012 indicated that many did -- you can catch it on the big screen.
"Peter Gabriel: Back To Front" will show for one night only at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at movie theaters across the country. The film hails from his October 2013 performance at London's O2 Arena and was directed by award-winner Hamish Hamilton. Besides the entire "So" album -- with the same band that toured with him after the album was originally released -- the show includes other favorites such as "Solsbury Hill" and "Digging In the Dirt."
The former Genesis frontman and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee notes that he "never considered a retro tour like this before," but he changed his mind after seeing Brian Wilson perform the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" in London. "That had been one of my favorite records, and it was actually great to hear it as performed as a single entity, which we never actually did with the 'So' album," Gabriel says. "And then we were getting some good offers, and I thought it could be quite fun to do this and try and get the band together that did that original tour."
"Peter Gabriel: Back to Front" will show on a dozen screens in Michigan, including the Oxford 7, the Commerce Township 14 in Walled Lake, the Forum 30 in Sterling Heights, the Livonia 20 and more. A full list of theaters and ticket information can be found at www.FathomEvents.com.
