Veteran Detroit rapper Hush's most recent headlines have largely been for the good works done by his Detroit Dog Rescue organization. Now he's ready to give his music a long leash again.
Hush (nee Dan Carlisle) will play a special showcase on Monday (Jan. 27) at Cliff Bell's in Detroit to showcase material from his upcoming album, "Danny Boy: Live of a Kid in the D," which he plans to release by late spring. The set -- which he says boasts a more "refreshed" and "Detroit-soulful" sound -- includes guest appearances by Dwele, Slum Village's T3, Melanie Rutherford, Ro Spit, Monica Blair, Astray and Cadillac Dale. Hush will also use Monday's show to unveil his latest band, a quintet that includes musicians who have played with Ne-Yo, Charlie Wilson, K'Jon, Dr. Dre and Sean Kingston.
Free tickets to the showcase are available by e.mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cliff Bell's is located 2030 Park Ave. Call 313-961-2543 or visit www.cliffbells.com. More about Hush and his music can be found at www.reverbnation.com/Hush313.
