The birthplace of techno music is about to get another major electronic music festival.
Carol Marvin, one of the creators of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (now Movement) in 2000 is holding an invitation-only Nov. 20 press conference at to announce details for an "unprecedented international Detroit festival" that's described as the city's "first ever indoor electronic music festival." Juan Atkins, one of techno's founders, will also be on hand for the event, which is expected to take place during the summer of 2014.
The press conference notice notes that the festival's "mission" will be "bringing the world together through the power of electronic music technology."
The new festival will join the continuing Movement, which takes place each Labor Day weekend at Detroit's Hart Plaza.
