Big weekend at Callahan's includes autism benefit, blues competition

Callahan's Music Hall in Auburn Hills will host a weekend full of special local music events this weekend.

The Howling Diablos kicks things off at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, with a bill that includes the Royal Blackbirds and the Woven Tangles. Tickets are $10. On Saturday, Oct. 19, Rio & the Rockabilly Revival and the Shelltones will perform at a benefit for Autism awareness and research, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, with proceeds going to Autism Speaks.

Things close out Sunday, Oct. 20, with the 2013 Detroit Blues Challenge Finals, which gets under way at 4 p.m. and features performances by Sweet Willie Tea, Maggie McCabe and Michael Francis, Carl Henry and Tony Berci, the Eliza Neals Band, Blues Dog Inquisition, Robert Sexton, the Dirty Basement Blues Band, the Hatchetmen and Los City Band. One band and one duo will represent Detroit at the International Blues Challenge during January in Memphis. Admission is $10.
