Detroit Symphony Orchestra plans busy weekend
Following last weekend's visit to Carnegie Hall in New York, it's a particularly busy weekend back at home for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Hall.
The Detroit Symphony Pops, conducted by Michael Krajewski, will perform a "Lennon & McCartney" program of Beatles music three times -- 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 17, 8 p.m. Saturday, May 18 and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The DSO also hits the road for three Neighborhood Concert Series shows, with violinist Cho-Lian Lin conducting works by Mendelssohn, Elgar and Mozart on Friday at the Ford Community Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Saturday at Kirk in the Hills church in Bloomfield Township and Sunday afternoon at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church.
This weekend also features Target Family Fun days with the DSO, with the Civic Orchestra and Civic Wind Symphony performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
Information on all these events is available at www.dso.org or by calling 313-576-5111.
