The Muggs, Luis Resto and more play special shows this weekend

Some notable shows by local artists dot the weekend's music calendar...

* The Muggs may have recorded their new live album, the two-CD "Full Tilt," at the Cadieux Cafe, but the fiery blues-rock trio is headed west to celebrate its release on Friday night, April 26, at the Magic Bag, 22920 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. The Muggs, who head out on their four European tour May 8, will be joined by fellow Detroiter Katie Grace and Chicago's Steepwater Band. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. * Was (Not Was) alumnus Luis Resto, co-writer of Eminem's award-winning "Lose Yourself," returns to the piano -- in public -- this weekend to debut "To Market, To Market, a collaboration on several music pieces with Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings cellist Debra Fayroian. The show takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at the Red Bull House of Art, 1551 Winder St. in Detroit's Eastern Market. Advance tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for seniors (60+) and $10 for students under 25, and $5 more at the door. Call (248) 559-2095 or visit www.detroitperforms.org.

Resto will also present, "The Cut," his multimedia piece with photographer Michelle Andonian during the show.
