Local musicians playing for good causes this weekend

A couple of major benefit concerts are taking place this weekend in the metro area:

* Jill Jack and Billy Brandt headline the 11th Carrick's Guitar For Kids Benefit, taking place at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Callahan's Music Hall, 2105 South Blvd., Auburn Hills. Proceeds go to the Guitar For Kids fund. The Marvins, the Hex Bombs, the Potters Field and Billy Strings will also perform. Tickets are $15. Call 248-858-9508 or visit www.atcallahans.com.

* Eleven acts -- including the Ruiners, Citizen Zero, Kaleido, Rio & the Rockabilly Revival and others -- will take part in a concert to raise fund for local music photographer Christopher Bjornberg's battle against cancer. The show starts at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Detroit Pub, 33401 Harper, Clinton Township. Admission is $10, with proceeds going towards Bjornberg's continuing medical and living expenses.
