OK, so he’s a rock star and not a basketball analyst. But Bob Seger also is a die-hard Detroit Pistons fan with center-court season tickets at The Palace of Auburn Hills. And one bonus of his “Face the Promise” tour coming to a close Saturday (March 17) at Cobo Arena is that he’ll be home for the NBA playoffs.
“I think we’re gonna come out of the East,” Seger predicts, “and then we gotta face, I think, Phoenix or Dallas, possibly San Antonio. But I really think it’s gonna be Phoenix; I think (Steve) Nash is fi nally going to pull it off.”
But, Seger adds with a laugh, “We don’t have a chance of beating any of them. I hate to say it, (but) those teams are really, really, really strong. It’s pretty scary what they can put together. But when you’re in the fi nals, anything can happen. You can get hot in the finals. I just think it’s a tall order.”
No matter what happens, however, Seger plans on being there to chant “Dee-troit basket-ball!” with the rest of The Palace throng.
“I can’t wait to start going to games again,” he says. “I haven’t seen anything yet this year.”
