Bob Seger is predicting an end to his touring career -- but not recording.

In the first published interview of his 2013 Rock and Roll Never Forgets Tour, the Detroit rocker tells the Toronto Sun that he's "definitely nearing the end" of his time on the road. "I can't see myself doing this when I'm 70," says Seger, who turns 68 in May. "I've had a wonderful, wonderful run and my audiences have jsut kept coming and it's really nice, but all good things have to come to an end."

That does leave a two-year window, however, and Seger adds a caveat that if his next album does well "then we might tour for another year, we'll see."

As for that album, the follow-up to 2006's "Face the Promise," Seger says he's still working on it, mostly in Nashville, and predicts a "late summer, early fall" release. He says that "there's a lot of real hard rock 'n' roll and there's a lot of hard R&B and there's a little bit of country tinged (songs), we've got two songs with a violin on it, but mostly it's just me."

Seger will also appear on John Fogerty's upcoming album "Wrote a Song For You," singing on a new version of "Who'll Stop the Rain."

Seger and his Silver Bullet Band come home for shows on April 11 and 13 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, with Joe Walsh opening. He plays a pair of shows with Kid Rock on March 15 in St. Paul, Minn., and March 16 in Fargo, N.D., and the tour is currently booked through May 4.
