Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dirtbombs and more to play Metallica festival in June

The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Detroit's own Dirtbombs will be among the 30 acts joining Metallica for its 2013 Orion Music + More festival taking place June 8-9 at Detroit's Belle Isle.

Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith is a Detroit native and graduate of Bloomfield Lahser High School. Also on the eclectic bill will be Rise Against, deftones, Bassnectar, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Silversun Pickups, Foals, FLAG, Fu Manchu and the Dillinger Escape Plan. The festival will also feature a number of other attractions, including Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett's Kirk's Crypt collection of horror memorabilia.

General admission tickets are currently on sale for $150 at the web site, with a $750 VIP package. Prices will be increasing after March 1.

The Orion festival debuted last year in Atlantic City, N.J.. If all goes well this year Metallica is reported to be planning to hold its third Orion festival back at Belle Isle in 2014.
